Radha Ashtami Story for Kids | Madhav, Ganesha Puja & Srimathi Radha Rani

It was a warm evening in Vrindavan. The Kadamba trees swayed gently, their orange-golden flowers filling the air with a sweet fragrance.

That evening, Madhav felt sad. His little paper flute had torn, and his favourite makhan pot had broken.

Grandma gently held his hand.

Come, Madhav. Let us begin our Ganesha Puja. Since today is Radha Ashtami, we will also offer our prayers to Srimathi Radha Rani.

After the puja, Grandma taught the children a beautiful prayer:

“Tapta Kanchana Gaurangi
Radhe Vrindavaneshwari
Vrishabhanu Sute Devi
Pranamami Hari Priye.”

“Grandma, what does it mean?” Madhav asked.

“It means, ‘I offer my humble respects to Srimathi Radha Rani, the Queen of Vrindavan and beloved of Sri Hari,’” Grandma explained.

“Radha Ashtami is the special day when we remember the appearance of Srimathi Radha Rani. It reminds us of love, kindness, devotion and humility.”

Madhav’s eyes widened. “That sounds very special, Grandma!”

“It is,” Grandma smiled. “But remember, the true beauty of any vrata and prayer is the devotion and sincerity in our heart.”

She then told the children about the Radha Kripa Kataksha Stotram, where Lord Shiva prays to Parvati Devi, seeking the loving and merciful glance of Srimathi Radha Rani.

Madhav folded his hands.

“Ganesha, please guide me and give me wisdom.
Srimathi Radha Rani, please fill my heart with love, kindness and grace.”

He smiled and softly whispered,

“Radhe Radhe.”
