Madhav’s Little Tulsi Plant: A Lesson from Ganesha
Pitter-patter! Pitter-patter!
The next morning, Madhav saw that the plant had bent and its stem had broken.
“Oh no! My plant!” he cried.
He sat beside his little Ganesha idol.
“Bappa, why did this happen? I took such good care of it.”
Madhav looked at the broken plant for a while.
Then he gently placed it in fresh soil, gave it a little stick for support, and moved it into the sunlight.
Maybe you can grow in a new way, he whispered.
A few days later, Madhav noticed a tiny green shoot peeking out of the soil. ‘Ganesha! Look!’ he exclaimed, his face lighting up with joy. He turned to his little Ganesha idol and smiled. Bappa, I understand now. Sometimes things don’t happen the way we want, but we can always try a different way.
Madhav joined his hands for a little prayer: “Ganesha Bappa, when things don't go my way, help me try again. Teach me to learn, grow, and never give up. Stay with me always.”
Ganapati Bappa Morya!
Moral of the story
When our plans change, we can learn, try again, and grow in a new way.
